About this policy

This Cookie Policy applies to the website bahraintravellers.com, operated under the trading name "Bahrain Travellers & Consulting" by E&C for Visitor Services and Assistance W.L.L., a company licensed in the Kingdom of Bahrain ("we", "us", "our"). We use cookies and similar technologies to help our website work, to remember your preferences, and to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it.

This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains in more detail how we handle personal data in line with the Bahrain Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL, Law No. 30 of 2018) and, for visitors in the EU/EEA, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If anything here is unclear, you are welcome to contact us using the details at the end of this policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit. They allow the site to recognise your device on later visits, remember choices you have made, and function more reliably. Cookies do not run programs or carry viruses, and they cannot access other files on your device.

We also use "similar technologies" that work in comparable ways. These include local storage and session storage (which keep small amounts of data in your browser, for example your chosen language) and pixels or tags used by analytics tools. Where we refer to "cookies" in this policy, we mean cookies and these similar technologies together.

First-party and third-party cookies

First-party cookies are set by bahraintravellers.com itself. We use these mainly to keep the site working and to remember your preferences, such as your selected language (English, Arabic, or Italian).

Third-party cookies are set by other organisations whose services we use on our site, such as analytics providers. These third parties may receive limited information about your visit and process it under their own privacy and cookie policies. We do not control the cookies set by third parties, but we describe the categories we rely on below so you understand what they are used for.

Categories of cookies we use

Strictly necessary cookies are required for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They support core features such as page navigation, security, load balancing, and remembering your session and language or locale preference as you move between pages. Our site is built on the Next.js framework, and these cookies (or equivalent local storage entries) ensure the correct language version and basic settings are shown. Because they are essential, they do not require your consent, but you can still block them in your browser settings (see below) — though parts of the site may then not work properly.

Performance and analytics cookies help us understand how visitors find and use our site, for example which tours and pages are most popular and where people experience difficulties. We may use tools such as Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and PostHog for this purpose. The information they collect is used in aggregate to improve our content, navigation, and booking experience. These cookies are only set where required consent has been given.

Functional cookies allow the site to remember choices you make to give you a more personalised experience, beyond what is strictly necessary. This may include remembering display preferences or details you have previously entered so you do not have to re-enter them. If you do not allow these cookies, some features may be less convenient.

Marketing cookies may be used to measure the effectiveness of our campaigns and to show you more relevant information about our tours and services on other websites or platforms. We use these only with your consent. At present our use of marketing cookies is limited, and we will update this policy if that changes.

Cookies and our booking and payment process

When you make a booking, strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies help keep your selections, currency (Bahraini Dinar, BHD), and session in place during checkout. Online payments are processed by our payment provider, Tap Payments, which supports methods including KNET/Benefit, mada, cards, and Apple Pay. Tap Payments may set its own cookies to process the transaction securely and to help prevent fraud.

We do not store raw card details on our systems. Where bookings are taken over WhatsApp (currently available while our online checkout fully launches), no website cookies are involved in that conversation, although our messaging provider applies its own technologies. Please see the privacy policies of Tap Payments and WhatsApp for details of the cookies and data they handle.

Consent and your choices

Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies such as analytics, functional, and marketing cookies. We do this through a cookie notice or banner when you first visit, and you can accept, reject, or adjust your choices. Strictly necessary cookies are set without consent because the site cannot work properly without them.

You can change your mind at any time. You may withdraw or update your consent through the cookie settings available on our site, and you can also manage cookies directly in your browser as described in the next section. Withdrawing consent does not affect any processing that took place before you did so, and it will not stop strictly necessary cookies.

Managing and disabling cookies in your browser

Most web browsers let you control cookies through their settings, including blocking or deleting cookies and being warned before a cookie is stored. The exact steps vary by browser, but you will usually find these options under a "Privacy", "Cookies", or "Site settings" menu. Help pages are available for the major browsers, including Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge.

Please note that if you block or delete cookies, some parts of bahraintravellers.com may not work as intended — for example, your language preference may not be remembered, or the booking process may not complete smoothly. You can also clear local and session storage through your browser's developer or privacy tools if you wish to remove stored preferences such as your selected language.

Analytics and international data transfers

Where we use analytics tools such as GA4 and PostHog, the data they collect may be processed on servers located outside the Kingdom of Bahrain. We take steps intended to ensure that any such transfer is handled lawfully and with appropriate safeguards, consistent with the PDPL and, for EU/EEA visitors, the GDPR.

Analytics data is used to understand site usage in aggregate rather than to identify you personally, and we configure these tools to limit the information collected where practical. For more detail on how we protect personal data and the rights available to you, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, in technology, or in legal requirements. When we make changes, we will update the "last updated" date shown at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, notify you through the website.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically so you stay informed about how we use cookies. Your continued use of our website after an update takes effect means you accept the revised policy, subject to any consent we are required to obtain.
